WebP is the practical everyday format for websites: smaller than JPG at similar visible quality, full transparency support like PNG, and animation capability that GIF had but with modern compression. Enhydra RPO converts a mixed batch — photos, graphics, animated GIFs, RAW files — to WebP in one run.
Static sources produce static WebP files. Animated GIF and animated WebP sources produce animated WebP output with their frames and timing preserved. Alpha channels from PNG, WebP, and AVIF sources survive the conversion. The result is web-ready: drop the files into your CMS or image folder and every major browser will render them.

When the source is an animated GIF or an animated WebP, Enhydra RPO encodes an animated WebP — every frame, original frame delays, and loop settings are carried through. The resulting file plays back exactly as the source animated, but in a smaller package.
Static sources — JPG, PNG, TIFF, BMP, HEIC, AVIF, RAW — produce a single-frame (static) WebP. ICO files use their highest-resolution embedded image as the source frame.
Alpha transparency from PNG, WebP, and AVIF sources is preserved in the WebP output. If you are converting a PNG logo or UI element that has a transparent background, the transparency will still be there after conversion — no white fill is applied.
Sources without an alpha channel (JPG, TIFF, BMP, most HEIC) produce opaque WebP files. Embedded ICC color profiles are respected during conversion so colors render correctly in browsers and image editors.
Yes. All frames and their timing are preserved in the animated WebP output. The file will play back the same motion as the original GIF, typically at a significantly smaller file size.
Yes. Both lossy and lossless WebP support an alpha channel. Transparency from PNG, WebP, and AVIF sources is carried through to the output — no background fill is applied.
All current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari support static and animated WebP. If you need to support very old browsers, PNG or JPG remain safer fallbacks.
Yes. RAW formats (CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, DNG, RAF, ORF, RW2) are developed first, then encoded to WebP. No additional camera software is required.
Lossy WebP (used for photos) discards fine detail for much smaller files, similar to JPG. Lossless WebP (used for graphics) stores every pixel exactly, like PNG but typically smaller. Enhydra RPO selects the appropriate mode based on your source type.
